Jaguar project headrest

Latest project creating a set of cowl headrests. I first made a paper ellipse and used it as a template for making a cardboard mock up to get the dimensions and shape as close as possible.

Initial framework.

Not out of pop-rivets yet.

More frame work.

Number segments so I don't get too confused.

Frame has taken shape.

Paper templates laid out on sheet of aluminium.

Cut lines, numbers and orientation.

Segments pop-riveted to frame.

Some additional storage space here.

Added hinged door and lock.

Had to get more pop-rivets.

Taking on final shape.

What it will look like on the Jaguar.

Large gap to leave room for tonneau cover.

Rear view.

Another angle.

Pink stuff is bondo filler to hide rivets.

On to priming sanding and painting.

Need to fabricate the passenger side next. Designed to be removable with 3 bolts and clipped into rag top rear hold down spear.

Finished the intake manifold and reinstalled on the engine. Looks a lot better, but does not change the performance.

Now just a simple matter of putting the bonnet back on and going for a nice long test drive.

Jaguar project update

New 2 ear hub caps for the wire wheels

Longer bolt, lock washer, fender washer, fabricated plate, spacer ring and hub cap

Looking good when done mounting.
Cleaning up the intake manifold.

Pulled the intake manifold to clean up.

Will skip pulling the fuel rail and injectors. This is how you get to them.

I thought it was powder coated, but just painted.

See if I can polish the aluminium and see how it turns out then decide if I want to repaint.

Underside with casting stamps. FB for FBA model and 1993 casting year.

I had a bad transmission leak. I pulled the transmission and found it was the bell housing where it mated with the shift rod. Repaired it with epoxy clay and a new gasket fabricated from gasket material. No more leak.
