Inventoried the body feathers and bones that will go on after the paint is dry. All these little parts add up. Amazing how many different parts actually go in to a car.
Not shown: more parts on back order, expecting in the next few weeks.
More progress. Another coat of primer and filler. More sanding.
Chrome bits. Front bumpers, windscreen parts, headlight rims, rear bumpers and tail lights. Lots of other little parts for rag top, dashboard and door hardware not shown. Visit today, no pictures as just more primer and sanding done.
A necessity in Florida is airconditioning. But how to cool an open two seat roadster? Jaguar engineering came up with this ingenious solution. Kick open side vents. These are the screens to keep the rocks and notorious Florida love bugs out. As taken out of the car after almost 58 years of wear and tear.
After wire brushing and cleaning. They are all brass, including the screens.
Painted and ready to go back in and ready to relieve hot feet.
Latest visit to the paint shop. The rear half is almost done preparing. Next the rear fenders will be removed to access the gap between the fenders and the body.
The front still needs more filling and sanding. There are not many flat areas on this model Jaguar. Even if it looks flat, there is still a very slight curve. I removed the screens from the side vents to take home and work on. Makes me feel I am accomplishing something.
Visited my Jaguar today, and brought along one of the seats and the interior feathers and bones to get an estimate on doing the interior of the cockpit. Looking forward to getting this project done and on the road.
